To write letters is to dye paper. Using an innovative approach, each of the four colors are made from natural dyes: indigo, chlorophyll, gardenia and lichen. Through repeated experiments to overcome the inevitable decay of said natural dyes, we were able to formulate dye recipes that deliver color for a reasonably long time following production. The no-label ink bottle design lets the beauty of the color speak for itself. The fountain pen, a product of skilled craftsmanship, features a clean and modern design finished with a simple wrap of deer- or cowskin. The leather edging, which would usually be hidden or reinforced with a glossy cover, is left exposed so that one is able to appreciate the natural material as is. The physical and aesthetic gentleness acts as a fresh counterpoint in a market overly dominated by masculine fountain-pen designs. Removing the lid from the packaging of the ink bottle and pen evokes the opening of flower petals. FUMISOME inks and pens are a new and engaging way to write and draw on paper.
