2021 DIA Final Evaluation Judges Line-up

On September 16, the evaluation was held in Zhejiang Exhibition Hall successfully. Total of 13 judges reviewed all physical works onsite and selected 2021 DIA awarded works.

 

This year, DIA received a total of 7,815 works, up 6% from last year, and a new country, the Republic of Latvia, participated in the competition. So far, the participants have covered 61 countries and regions on 5 continents. After the Preliminary Evaluation in China and 7 overseas sub-divisions, 791 works were successfully shortlisted for the Final Evaluation, they competed for Honorable Mention Award, and even had the opportunity to win Gold Award.

Jian Hang (China)

Vice Director of Academic Committee, China Academy of Art

President of Academic Committee, Design Intelligence Award


Professor, PhD supervisor, chief curator of the Art Museum, China Academy of Art. He served as vice dean of Academy of Arts&Design, Tsinghua University and vice president of China Academy of Art. He is the author of The Kindness of Design, The Thought of Crafts, The History of Chinese Aesthetics of Arts and Crafts, etc. He has served as the chief curator of the first session of Beijing International Design Triennial, Design Shanghai, The 1st-4th Session of China Design Exhibition and Public Art Thematic Exhibition.

Graduated from Waseda University (Tokyo Japan) & Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, California U.S.A) in School of Science and Engineering. President of GK Industrial Design Inc., where joined in 1990. Active industrial designer ranging from an industrial machinery, an institutional appliance to a consumer product with approaches by “integration of technologies and arts” and “a structure makes a real form". He has received many Good Design awards including Grand Prize, IF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, IDEA Award, German Design Award etc. 


Xiaoyou He (China)

Professor, PhD supervisor of Nanjing University of the Arts


Invited vice president of China Industrial Design Association and director of Design Research Committee, deputy director of Industrial Design Art Committee of China Artists Association, director of China Higher Education Association and deputy director of Design Education Committee, member of the 10th Session of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, chairman of Jiangsu Industrial Design Association, chief communication expert of Jiangsu Industrial Design, director of Design Art Committee of Jiangsu Artists Association, etc.


Zhipeng Hu (China)

Vice President of NetEase


Part-time researcher of Zhejiang University, senior engineer. He has joined NetEase since 2007 as the head of Thunder Fire Studio. The team has successfully created game brands such as “A Chinese Ghost Story Online”, “Revelation Online”, “Justice Online”, etc. making important contributions to the cultural, entertainment, game industry and local economic development. In 2017, NetEase Fuxi Games AI Lab was established, and Montreal Studio was subsequently established overseas to help develop the globalization of games.

Dean of the School of Design, Hunan University


Professor, PhD supervisor, member of the 8th Design Evaluation Group of the State Council, secretary general of Industrial Design Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, secretary general of Intangible Cultural Heritage Alliance of the Ministry of Education, distinguished professor of Yangtze River Scholars(2020), vice chairman of Industrial Design Branch of Mechanical Engineering Society, Furong Scholar of Hunan Province, planning expert of Culture, Technology and Modern Service of the Ministry of Science and Technology, member of Expert Committee of Service-oriented Manufacturing Alliance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.


Ning Liu (China)

President of China Industrial Design Association


Member of the expert group of Strategic Emerging Industries of the National Development and Reform Commission, director of the Judging Committee of “China Excellent Industrial Design Award” of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. He presided over, participated, or completed 17 national projects such as the National 863 Plan, the National Science and Technology Supporting Plan, and major special projects of the National Development and Reform Commission, etc. participated in national strategic plans and policy related works such as Made in China 2025, the 13th Five-Year Plan, etc. participated in the formulation of 4 international and national standards, and owned 136 individual patents.


Moritz Ludwig (Germany)

CEO of Designaffairs, the world’s leading design consulting firm. With a team of 50 creatives, Moritz has provided design solutions and strategic consulting to more than 40 of the Global Fortune 500 companies as well as many start-ups, including Airbus, Porsche, BMW, Huawei, Mercedes, Bosch, Siemens, etc. His works have won many design awards such as Red Dot, iF and CES Innovation Award, etc.   


 

Kun Pyo Lee (Korea) 

Dean of the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University


President and Chief Design Officer in the Corporate Design Center of the LG Electronics in Korea where he heavily promoted the advancement of user experience design and design research. Most notably, he was the co-founder of IASDR. Prof. Lee is an internationally renowned and prominent scholar and his research is focused on human-centered design.

 

Jialin Li (China)

Deputy Director of Academic Committee, Director of Creative Design and Research Center, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University


Professor, PhD supervisor, Zhejiang special expert, leading philosophy and social science talents of the National "10,000 Talents Plan", famous cultural masters and "Four Batch" talents of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, special government allowance experts of the State Council. He has successively served as the evaluation expert of the National Science and Technology Award, the evaluation expert of the National Art Society of Social Science Fund, and the evaluation expert of the "Yangtze River Scholars" of the Ministry of Education. He has won many awards, such as the second prize of national technological invention. 


 

Xiaonian Tao (China)

Chairman of China Household Electrical Appliances Association


Engaged in the management of light industry manufacturing field for a long time. He has served as vice president of China Light Industry Association, China Watch Association, chairman of China Arts and Crafts Association, member of Evaluation Committee, China Quality Award, Textbook Examination and Approval of Vocational Education and Continuing Education of the Ministry of Education, expert committee of National Craftsmen, director of the 7th China Arts and Crafts Master Working Committee, etc.

 

Pradyumna Vyas (India)

Senior Advisor, Design & Innovation, Confederation of Indian Industry 


Board of Director, World Design Organisation (WDO), former director, National Institute of Design (NID). Prof. Vyas acquired a masters in industrial design from the Indian Institute of Technology. He has been conferred with multiple awards in recognition for his contributions to design education and promotion, to name a few, World Education Congress, 2015, awarded him for his "Outstanding Contribution to Education"; he was awarded a "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2017.

 

 

Yingqing Xu (China)

Director of Future Laboratory, Professor of Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University


Tenure track professor of Tsinghua University, director of Future Laboratory, Tsinghua University, professor of Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, member of China Computer Federation, member of China Artists Association. He focuses on the research of natural user experience, computer graphics, tactile cognition and interaction, digitization of cultural heritage, etc. He has published nearly 100 academic papers in international conferences and academic journals, applied for dozens of patents, and his design works have been exhibited at home and abroad for many times.


Suihuai Yu (China)

Professor, PhD Supervisor of Northwestern Polytechnical University


Professor, PhD supervisor, vice president of China Industrial Design Association, member of the Teaching Steering Committee, director of Shanxi Industrial Design Engineering Laboratory, director of the Industrial Design Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University, director of the expert Committee of “National Industrial Design Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance" of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has presided over the construction of Shanxi Industrial Design Engineering Laboratory, key laboratory of industrial design and ergonomics, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and has undertaken more than 10 national key science and technological research projects and "863" projects.
