Cogni is an early dementia pre-screening tool designed to be used at home with family. It includes a physical device with large, soft buttons that connect to a simple game interface on a tablet or computer. Players are guided through memory and attention-based tasks, with results shared securely with healthcare professionals if needed. The goal is not to diagnose but to identify early warning signs and help users fast-track their way into the healthcare system. In the UK, it currently takes around 160 days to receive a formal dementia diagnosis. Cogni aims to reduce this to just 24 days by helping prioritize high-risk individuals and reduce unnecessary referrals. The design is inclusive, non-threatening, and playful, encouraging conversation between loved ones rather than fear. It is particularly suited for older adults with little digital experience. A live demo video shows how the product is used — users press the soft buttons on the physical unit to play games shown on the screen. The gameplay adapts to user input, and results can be saved, reviewed, or shared. This system has been tested with older adults, caregivers, and clinicians to ensure it is easy to use, understandable, and emotionally supportive.
