The 2023 DIA Call for Entry is proceeding in an orderly manner. Up to now, the DIA Committee has received thousands of entries from different countries and regions around the world, and DIA is attracting a high level of interest and participation from both inside and outside the industry.


Want your work to stand out from thousands of entries? Now the opportunity to obtain the “Special Pass” is coming! The 2023 DIA Committee invited 100 senior experts, academic leaders and industry elites from different fields to nominate works for 2023 DIA, and the works nominated by them can directly enter the Second Evaluation after being reviewed by the DIA Committee.

Cees de Bont (Netherlands)

Dean of the School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University, UK

Cees has served as Dean of the School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University, UK since July, 2018. He has published his research findings in famous academic journals such as Design Studies, Design Issues, Journal of Engineering Design and Journal of Product Innovation Management. His research interests mainly include how consumers accept new technologies, design research methods and design education. In 2017, Cees was awarded the ICONNN Award (ICoRD Outstanding Contribution to Design Science and Education) by the International Conference on Research into Design (ICoRD).

Research Fellow and Doctoral Supervisor at Aalto University, Finland


Mr. Fang is an architect and expert in architecture and design, and he has worked as a teacher at Peking University, Aalto University and other universities, and won honors such as the “Knight of Order of the Lion of Finland", the "Distinguished Alumni of Aalto University" and the "Design Contribution Award" of World Green Design Organization. Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of Industrial Design Engineering and Director of Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center, Tongji University. Academic Director of Key Laboratory of Digital Performing Arts Integration and Innovation under the Ministry of Culture and Member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Industrial Design Major of the Ministry of Education. Mr. Fan is mainly engaged in the research on design behavior and cognition. He has won the title of Top 10 Educators in Industrial Design in China and the Theoretical Contribution Award of the Ten-year Development of Industrial Design in China.

Adjunct Research Fellow of Zhejiang University, Senior Engineer. He joined NetEase in 2007 and served as the head of Leihuo Studio. The Leihuo Team has successfully created flagship game brands such as "A Chinese Ghost Story", "Revelation" and “Justice", making important contributions to the entertainment and game industry and local economic development. He set up Netease Fuxi Game AI Lab in 2017, and then set up Montreal Studio overseas to support the global development of games.

James Hope (UK)

Director of Transportation Design Institute, China Academy of Art


He has served as chief designer of Mustang and worked for Ford, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors in the United States, and served as the global executive design director of Chery Automobile for many years. With an international vision and successful experience of localization in China, James Hope has created a large number of famous mass-produced cars and concept cars during his 30 years in the automobile design industry.

Kostas Terzidis (USA)

Professor of College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University


Kostas Terzidis is a professor in D&I at Tongji University and Director of Shangxiang Laboratory. He used to be an associate professor of Harvard Graduate School of Design and an assistant professor at the University of California-Los Angeles. He has published four monographs: Permutation Design (Routeledge: 2014), Algorithms for Visual Design (Wiley: 2009), Algorithmic Architecture (Architectural Press: 2006) and Expressive Form (Spon: 2003). His main research fields involve artificial intelligence and art, children and artificial intelligence courses development, and he has also published multiple papers on artificial intelligence and design.

Li Jialin (China)

Deputy Director of Academic Committee of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

Mr. Li is a professor and doctoral supervisor, and he has been selected as the Special Expert of Zhejiang Province, Leading Talent in Philosophy and Social Sciences of the national "Ten Thousand Talents Program", Famous Cultural Artist of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and “Four Batches” Talent, and expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. Mr. Makoto Watanabe is currently the Vice President of Chiba University, Professor of Design, Graduate School-International Academic Research Institute, and he graduated as a Doctor of Engineering from Natural Science Research Department, Chiba University. As the leader of the industrial design discipline in Chiba University, he once served as chief designer in Seiko Group Corporation, and he is also Director of Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), Judging Member of Good Design Award, and Representative Director of World Design Organization (WDO) in Japan.

He has extensive practical experience in systems design, innovation engineering, design project management and higher education of design. He works for five world-renowned design schools, including Dyson School of Design Engineering and Imperial College London. He has participated in the design of the world's first large-scale injection molded suitcase for Samsonite, which was patented globally and sold in millions. He also has rich experience in design-based cooperation between the industry and universities, and has established more than 306 cooperation projects with the industry, benefiting 5,105 students. Design educator, designer and entrepreneur with more than 30 years’ experience in creative design and technology development. He is currently a senator of the World Design Organization (formerly known as the International Council of Societies of Industrial Designers, Icsid), Founder and Chairman of WDO Foundation, Chairman of LUMIUM DESIGN, visiting professor of industrial design at Italy Politecnico di Milano, and an adjunct professor of industrial design at International College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University and a member of the International Advisory Committee of the College. He has delivered keynote speeches at several global design conferences, and served as the chairman and member of the jury of several world-renowned design awards.
